Tom Valentine, M.S. 

 

Tom Valentine completed his Bachelor of Science in human development at Cornell University in 2012. He then worked as a full-time research assistant and study coordinator for the Mood Disorders Research Program and Laboratory for Clinical and Translational Neuroscience at Brown University's Butler Hospital. There, he was involved in several cross-sectional and longitudinal studies examining neurobiological and psychosocial risk factors for the development of mood and anxiety disorders, as well as several randomized controlled trials investigating the efficacy of neuromodulation treatments for major depressive disorder. Tom began his graduate studies at The Ohio State University in Autumn 2014. He obtained his Master of Arts in psychology in 2017 and is now a doctoral candidate in clinical psychology. His research investigates the relationships among patient self-reported disease phenomena (e.g., cognitive complaints, illness perceptions), neuropsychological test performance, and objective disease outcomes, with a current focus on individuals with cancer. He is pursuing a career in clinical neuropsychology.
