Principal Investigator- Barbara L. Andersen, Ph.D.  

Barbara L. Andersen, Ph.D., is a Professor in the Department of Psychology with a joint appointment in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at The Ohio State University. She is a member of the OSU Comprehensive Cancer Center. She has authored three books and over 150 research articles on clinical psychology and behavioral medicine topics. Her research has been continuously funded since 1985, receiving grants from the American Cancer Society, the National Cancer Institute, the National Institute of Mental Health, and the Department of the Army to support her research on biobehavioral aspects of cancer. She is a recipient of a NIH/NCI (K05) Research Career Award [Established Investigator Award in Cancer Prevention, Control, Behavioral, and Population Sciences (2004-09, 2010-15)]. Previous awards from universities and professional societies include the Minton Hero of Hope Research Medal of Honor (Ohio Division of the American Cancer Society, 2004), Distinguished Scholar Award (University of Iowa, 1989; Ohio State, 2000), Distinguished Senior Investigator Award in Health/Cancer (American Psychological Association, 2003; Society of Behavioral Medicine, 2015), and others..

Dr. Andersen’s current work focuses on biobehavioral aspects of hematologic cancers, biobehavioral interventions for gynecologic oncology patients, training of mental health professionals, and dissemination and implementation of biobehavioral interventions.
